How to edit a template with CompanyOn

Overview

CompanyOn allows clinics and practitioners to fully edit and customize chart templates at any time.

Templates can be modified to:
• Update workflows
• Add or remove sections
• Customize assessments
• Edit SOAP notes
• Improve documentation efficiency
• Standardize clinic charting workflows

Templates created from scratch or added from the Template Library can both be edited.

How to Edit a Chart Template

  1. Open the Admin menu

  2. Navigate to Chart Templates

  3. Locate the template you want to edit

  4. Click the Pencil Icon

  5. The template Builder will open

  6. Edit the template components as needed

  7. Save the template changes


What Can Be Edited

You can:
• Edit text inside components
• Add new components
• Remove sections
• Rearrange sections
• Modify questions and fields
• Customize SOAP note sections
• Update assessments and workflows


How the Builder Works During Editing

The Builder is a drag-and-drop editor.

On the right side:
• You will see the available components

On the left side:
• You will see the current template layout

To edit the template:
• Drag new components into the template
• Click existing components to edit them
• Remove sections that are no longer needed
• Rearrange components to improve workflows


Editing Templates from the Template Library

Templates added from the Template Library can also be fully customized.

Once added to the Builder:
• You can modify every section
• You can add or remove components
• You can personalize the template to match your clinic workflow

The editing process is the same as with custom-built templates.


What Happens Next

Once saved:
• The updated template becomes available immediately
• Linked services continue using the updated version
• Future chart entries will reflect the updated template structure
