How to Assign an Invoice to a Third Party

Overview

CompanyOn allows clinics and practitioners to assign invoices to a third party for billing purposes.

This workflow is commonly used for:
• Facilities
• Insurance organizations
• Employers
• Family members
• Government programs
• Third-party payers

Third-party invoicing helps clinics consolidate billing and manage external payment workflows efficiently.

Important Requirements

Before assigning invoices to a third party:
• The third-party contact must first be added to the client profile
• Contacts can also be created globally through the Contacts section inside the Billing module

How to Add a Third-Party Contact to a Client Profile

  1. Open the client profile

  2. Navigate to the third-party invoicing area

  3. Click Add Contact

  4. Enter the third-party information

  5. Save the contact

Common Third-Party Contacts

• Facilities
• Insurance providers
• Employers
• Family members
• Organizations

What Happens Next

Once third party contact is added:
• The invoice becomes connected to the selected third party
• Invoices can later be merged or submitted together
• Billing workflows can be tracked more efficiently

How Third-Party Invoice Merging Works

Invoices assigned to the same third party can later be merged together.

This workflow is commonly used when:
• Multiple clients belong to the same facility
• Services are billed to the same organization
• Clinics want consolidated billing workflows

Example Workflow

If several clients belong to the same facility:
• Each invoice can be assigned to that facility
• Invoices can later be merged together into one billing submission
